Communiqué from joint Eurosite/EUROPARC meeting held at Siggen, Germany, 24 May 2012
A joint meeting of the EUROPARC Council and the Eurosite Board was held at Siggen, Schleswig Holstein, Germany on 24 May 2012 to discuss how the two organisations will work together in future.
The meeting reconfirmed EUROPARC and Eurosite’s commitment to create a single organisation, a decision taken by the respective memberships at their AGMs in September 2011.
The meeting agreed the importance of establishing a clear vision, mission and function of the new organisation. A draft paper setting this out has been prepared and will be circulated to the membership for comment.
The Joint Committee of the two organisations will meet in July to discuss members’ comments and redraft the vision, mission and function of the new organisation.
The Joint Committee meeting will then review existing information on the governance, operation and finances of both organisations in order to recommend the best operational design for the new organisation.
A final draft paper will be produced in time for the joint Eurosite and EUROPARC general assemblies on Monday 22nd October, during the conference in Genk, Belgium, when members will be asked to discuss and vote on these plans.
