Every two years, the EUROPARC network of Sustainable Destinations applying the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas methodology comes together to exchange experience and best practice. With visitor pressure increasing in many European Protected Areas, we need to look at tourism with a different mindset.

Explore and discover the Wild West of Ireland! We invite you to the 13th network Meeting of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, organised together with the National Parks and Wildlife Service of Ireland. This meeting will focus on finding creative solutions to visitor flow – an essential topic for Protected Areas creating sustainable tourism offers!

Participants can expect an exciting programme, with loads of opportunities for knowledge exchange & networking. Furthermore, there will be visits to Connemara National Park and Wild Nephin National Park.

We expect arrivals on the 28th of October and on the 1st November you will all return home fresh with ideas, motivation and ready to get to work. Travel is easy from Dublin and Knock airports.

Due to the popularity of Westport, we recommend booking your accommodation as soon as possible. Our co-organisers, the National Park and Wildlife Service, Ireland, have reached an agreement with the Westport Woods Hotel, the venue of the event, to put rooms on hold at a competitive rate on a First Come First Served basis.
